Minister for IT and Industries D. Sridhar Babu urged Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad to take note of the conduct of BRS members, stating that their behaviour amounted to disrespect towards the Speaker and the institution of the Assembly.
Indirectly referring to comments of BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao against the Speaker outside the Assembly, the Minister said if there were objections or differing views, they should be raised inside the House.
He questioned the justification for airing criticisms outside the legislature while avoiding debate on the floor of the Assembly.
Mr. Sridhar Babu said BRS leaders had raised several demands and questions during the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meetings, projecting themselves as ready for a debate with the government. “However, they have slipped away from the House itself,” he remarked.
The Minister said it was highly inappropriate for opposition members to remain absent when important matters of public interest were being debated in the Assembly. He clarified that the government had arranged a detailed presentation on Krishna river water issues in the House purely to place factual information before the people and ensure transparency in the discussion.
