A 53-year-old person was sentenced to seven year imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹50,000 by POCSO Court in Kurnool for sexually assaulting a minor girl. The court also directed the convict to pay ₹1 lakh ex-gratia to the victim.
The accused, Y. Govindu, of Alamuru village in Rudravaram mandal in Nandyal district, sexually assaulted the minor girl on April 25, 2025 at Saijit Colony outskirts in Nandyal. A case was registered against him by the Nandyal Taluk police station under Section 65 (2) of BNS and also POCSO Act.
