Bhuvneshwar Kumar seemed to have broken away from the rest of the pack when he reached 17 wickets even as his Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) went down to Gujarat Titans (GT) on Thursday, but Anshul Kamboj didn’t waste any time catching up with him after a longish gap between matches for CSK.

They had last played on April 26, and Kamboj had gone wicketless, for the first time this season, but bounced right back with three wickets against MI, moving up to 17. He is tied with Bhuvneshwar, but Bhuvneshwar still has the cap because of a superior economy rate: 7.54 to Kamboj’s 8.49.

Behind them, making up the top five, are Jofra Archer of Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Eshan Malinga of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), both with 15 wickets, and GT’s Kagiso Rabada with 14. Six other bowlers have ten or more wickets at this stage.
Sanju Samson had a poor outing, scoring just 11, but remains the best-placed of all CSK and MI batters, at No. 9, having edged past SRH’s Ishan Kishan.
