Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and MNS chief Raj Thackeray are to make a formal announcement on their alliance at 12 noon on Wednesday (December 24, 2025), said the party leader Sanjay Raut.
The decision comes days after speculations of their coming together for the upcoming municipal corporation elections. Several rounds of talks have been held between the two parties for days now.
The seat sharing talks took time as both the cousins primarily share the same region of influence and votebank, particularly in Mumbai. It is stated that differences over seats in Sewri, Mahim, Bhandup were being resolved.
For both the Thackerays, this election will be a battle of existence, particularly after the dismal performance in the first two phases of local body elections.
The crucial Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections will be held on January 15, 2026 and counting of votes will be on January 16, 2026.
