The State government has been making strategic market interventions as part of its commitment to controlling rising commodity prices, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development J. Chinchurani has said.
Speaking at the district-level inauguration of the Supplyco Christmas-New Year Fair 2025 at the Asramam ground here on Tuesday, she added that essential goods, including rice and groceries, would be distributed without price hike.
Key highlights of the fair include the provision of up to 20 kg of rice per person at a subsidised rate of ₹25 a kg. Other essentials such as oil, sugar, Milma ghee, and special food kits will also be available at discounted prices. The Minister further stated that similar fairs would be held district and constituency levels to ensure widespread accessibility.

Special kit at ₹500
The fair will be open till January 1 and offers special discounts for more than 280 products, with branded daily essentials sold at 5% to 50% discount. A special kit containing 12 items is priced at ₹500 and includes cake, sugar, tea, payasam mix, Sabari appam powder, and various spices. Furthermore, a discount of ₹50 via a special coupon is available when purchasing subsidy items to the tune of ₹1,000. Those purchasing petrol from Supplyco-owned pumps will receive a ₹50 gift coupon.
South Zone Deputy Rationing Controller C.V. Mohankumar, District Supply Officer G.S. Gopakumar and Vadakkumbhagam division councillor Kuruvilla Joseph were present.
