Eluru District Collector K. Vetriselvi has directed officials to make comprehensive arrangements to organise the “Kolleru Utsavam” in a lively and festive atmosphere, ensuring that visitors can conveniently view migratory birds arriving at the Kolleru region during this season.
Reviewing the preparations for the Kolleru Festival with officials of various departments on Thursday (December 25, 2025), the Collector said that this is the peak period for the arrival of different species of migratory birds from foreign countries.
She instructed officials to organise the Kolleru Utsavam for two days so that nature lovers and tourists can witness the birds, and asked them to finalise suitable dates for the event.
Ms. Vetriselvi directed officials to form a district-level committee immediately and submit proposals outlining the necessary arrangements for the festival. She said facilities should be planned keeping in mind the expected number of visitors, including arrangements for bird watching with binoculars, boating and other activities.
She also instructed officials to provide details of nearby temples and tourist destinations in the form of a “tourism circuit” to visitors participating in the festival, enabling them to explore other attractions in the region after attending the event. Adequate food courts and stalls should be set up in proportion to the tourist inflow, along with proper arrangements for drinking water and toilets, she added.
The review meeting was attended by District Revenue Officer V. Visweswara Rao, Divisional Forest Officer Vijaya, Tourism Department Regional Director Ch. Pawan Kumar, Tourism Development Corporation Executive Engineer Reddy, District Tourism Development Officer Pattabhiramayya, Eluru Municipal Corporation Commissioner A. Bhanu Pratap, and officials from various departments.
