A police personnel was killed in a tiger attack in the Mayudia area of Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Dibang Valley, prompting authorities to issue an urgent public safety advisory.

The victim has been identified as Chikseng Manpang, from Manfaiseng village in Namsai district. Officials said Manpang was returning home on his motorcycle after duty when a tiger fatally attacked him on Tuesday (February 3, 2026).

His body was later recovered by police with assistance from forest department officials, but he was declared dead on arrival by the medical team. His motorcycle was found abandoned on the Mayudia road.

Eyewitnesses, including a passing truck driver, reported that the biker was dragged off the road by the tiger.

Forest officials believe two tigers have been roaming the Mayudia stretch for several months, raising serious safety concerns along the dense forest corridor that the Roing-Anini Road passes through.

In response, the Lower Dibang Valley district administration issued a public advisory for the 40-65 km stretch of the road, warning residents, commuters, and visitors to avoid travelling on foot or by two-wheelers. Four-wheeler users have been urged to remain alert and follow all safety precautions.

The Divisional Forest Officer (Wildlife) has been directed to immediately restrain and relocate the tiger to a secure location, ensuring both public safety and responsible wildlife management.

Authorities appealed to the public to stay calm, report any sightings promptly, and refrain from spreading rumours.
