Bangladesh captain Litton Das decided to field first against New Zealand in the first T20I in Chattogram. Tom Latham who was supposed to lead the visitors, is out injured after taking a blow to his right big toe during training on Sunday. The New Zealand medical team is assessing whether he can play the remaining matches. Nick Kelly, who made his T20I debut just over a month ago, has stepped up as stand-in captain.
New Zealand have handed T20I debuts to Matthew Fisher and Nathan Smith, as they made four changes to the side that played their last T20I, against South Africa in March. They are without James Neesham, Cole McConchie, Zak Foulkes, Kyle Jamieson and Ben Sears. They’ve brought in Ish Sodhi, Clarke, Smith, Fisher, Dean Foxcroft and Ben Lister.
Bangladesh have made one change since their third T20I against Ireland in December, picking pace bowler Ripon Mondol in Mohammad Saifuddin’s place.
