Capital to host valedictory of ‘Quantum Century’ science expo

The valedictory of the ‘Quantum Century’ science exhibition organised by the Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad (KSSP) will be held in the State capital next month.

The exhibition which generated a lot of enthusiasm from science enthusiasts and won praise from UNESCO for student and public participation during its Statewide tour will conclude with a six-day event at Government College for Women, Vazhuthacaud, from February 19 to 24.

A 60-member organising committee has been set up with Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty as chairman and former KSSP president B. Ramesh as general convener.

District panchayat chairperson V. Priyadarsini, Sanskrit varsity former Vice-Chancellor S. Rajasekharan, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment member secretary A. Sabu, ward councillor Rakhi Ravikumar are among the vice chairpersons.

The exhibition is being organised in association with Luca science portal, Cochin University of Science and Technology, and Government College for Women as part of global celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Quantum Mechanics following a call by the United Nations.

Registration for schools has begun on https://q.luca.co.in/register. Once registration is done, facility will be arranged for each school in the sanctioned slot.

Ahead of the exhibition, classes and activities on various topics related to quantum science will be organised in schools, colleges, and science institutions.

Elaborate awareness campaigns, including a quantum rally, will be organised in association with colleges and schools.

Talks on quantum science, scientific lectures, seminars, and book exhibitions will be held on the days of the exhibition.
