On the fourth day of ‘Drone Technology’ workshop being conducted at Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU), a Drone Technology Laboratory was inaugurated in the Department of Computer Science. The lab was formally inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Allam Srinivasa Rao on Thursday.
The lab has been set up with the financial support received under the PM-USHA (Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan) scheme. The drone components worth approximately ₹2.5 lakh have been procured, enabling the assembly of six complete drone sets in the lab. Professor Ande Prasad is serving as the coordinator of the lab.
During the workshop, students were given special training on drone calibration. Experts explained the importance of calibration for stable flight and accurate sensor performance, emphasising its critical role in drone operations. The Vice-Chancellor said that the university is taking key initiatives to enhance students’ employability.
The same day, the students were given special training on ‘Characterisation and Dialogue’ as part of the ‘12-day Creative Writing and Professional Content Development’ programme, being conducted under the aegis of the Department of English. Tamanna S.K., assistant professor of English at D.K. Government Women’s College, attended the programme as the resource person.
She explained in detail how to create memorable characters in a story and how to write effective, context-based dialogues. She emphasised the importance of a character’s background, motivation and journey within the narrative. The students created fictional characters on their own and wrote dialogues for different situations as a part of an exercise.
