Four persons involved in a car fraud racket that used fake number plates were arrested by Narasaraopet Rural Police in Palnadu district, late on Monday (December 232, 2025) night.
Addressing a media conference at the Police Station, Palnadu Superintendent of Police B. Krishna Rao said, “The case came to light following a complaint by Pulla Srinivasa Reddy of Vijayawada, who reported that his car was misused after being pledged.”
According to police, the complainant had pledged his car in August 2024 to one of the accused for ₹1.5 lakh. When he later sought to repay the amount and retrieve the vehicle, the accused allegedly refused, changed the registration number, and continued using the car.
During investigation, police found that a nine-member gang was involved in similar offences, including defaulting on vehicle finance loans and altering registration details. Four accused, including Pullamsetti Bhanu Prakash, Pullamsetti Anjaneyulu alias Anji Naidu, Shaik Mohammed Rafi and Madhyanapu Mohana Satya Srinivas were arrested.
Police seized 20 cars in total, including three vehicles that were intercepted while being taken for sale and 17 vehicles hidden at different locations. Two spare fake number plates were also recovered. The SP said that the accused purchased vehicles on finance illegally.
