Linde, a left-arm spin-bowling allrounder, joins LSG at his base price of INR 1 crore. He has played three Tests, four ODIs and 37 T20Is for South Africa.
While this will be Linde’s maiden IPL stint, he has played in the SA20, the Hundred, Major League Cricket and the PSL in the last 12 months. In 250 T20s, he has taken 218 wickets with an economy rate of 7.42. With the bat, he has scored 2746 runs at an average of 19.47 with a strike rate of 136.68.
Apart from his bowling, Linde is expected to provide LSG with the much-needed batting cushion at No. 8.
Hasaranga, who was signed by LSG for INR 2 crore, never joined the squad after tearing his left hamstring during Sri Lanka’s opening game at the T20 World Cup in February.
LSG started the season with a loss against Delhi Capitals but two narrow wins in the following two games have lifted them to the fifth position on the points table. Their next game is against Gujarat Titans on Sunday in Lucknow.
