Congress retained both seats in the byelections to Bagalkot and Davangere South Assembly constituencies in Karnataka on May 4, 2026.
While Umesh Meti won Bagalkot — a seat held by his late father H.Y. Meti — by a margin of 22,332 votes, Samarth Mallikarjun scripted victory in Davangere South — the bastion of his late grandfather Shamanur Shivashankarappa — by a difference of 5,708 votes.
