North Carolina’s backlog of elevator inspections has been completely cleared, according to the state’s labor commissioner.
Luke Farley says when he took office last year one out of every five elevators in the state was not inspected each year.
The commissioner says he ordered a top-to-bottom review of the labor department’s internal operations.
He credits targeted improvements for a dramatic increase in inspection efficiency to achieve the highest level of compliance in the department’s history.
