The Pro10 Malaysia cricket tournament has been postponed until after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. The organisers clarified that the reason for the rescheduling is due to logistical challenges. They also added that new dates for the competition will be announced after the T20 World Cup.The inaugural edition was due to be held from 30 January to 2 February at Bayuemas Oval, Selangor.
The Malaysian Cricket Association has said that it is supportive of the rescheduling and will look forward to the new dates to reschedule the tournament.For the sake of better balance in the competition, the number of teams will be increased from three to four in the rescheduled event.In a statement released on Friday, they said: “The Pro10 Malaysia cricket tournament has been postponed to a later date, post the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup in India, due to logistical issues.“New dates will be announced in due time.“All the stakeholders, including cricketers, match officials and the Malaysian Cricket Association, are aligned with the postponement and have extended full support to the tournament.”The tournament, announced in November last year, has the backing of former India cricketer and leading commentator Ravi Shastri, with Sir Vivian Richards as the brand ambassador.
