The high-power Telangana Rising delegation led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has successfully convinced marquee investors attending the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos to invest in the State, explaining the proactive policies and potential advantages put in place by the State government.

The Chief Minister participated in a series of meetings with renowned firms since his arrival in Davos, explaining them about the vision and roadmap of his government’s pursuit to make Telangana a US $ 3 trillion economy in two decades. Impressed by the presentation, several firms including Google, Unilever and others gave investment commitments entering into memorandum of understanding with the State government.

One of the biggest investment assurances was from the renowned ductile iron pipe manufacturer Rashmi Group, which proposed a steel plant with an investment of ₹12,500 crore capable of generating 12,000 direct and indirect jobs. Another major achievement of the delegation was the setting up of a Global Capability Centre (GCC) by L’Oreal, a world leader in beauty, make-up and cosmetics, in the city. While GCC’s specialising in medtech and other areas are a common feature, L’Oreal has come up with the idea of setting up a first-of-its-kind GCC dealing exclusively with beauty tech.

The Chief Minister had a fruitful interaction with domestic giant Tata Group chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran, explaining him about the investor and industry-friendly atmosphere in the State and the proactive long-term policies ushered in for all-round development of the State. Telangana government was not just working for attracting investments but also taking steps to introduce vision for future of the State.

The Tata Group accordingly evinced interest in partnering with the Telangana government on developing world-class sports infrastructure including modernisation of the existing stadiums. Mr. Chandrasekaran felt that there was abundant availability of talent in the country and there was need to set up basic infrastructure to hone these skills.

The Telangana Rising delegation is slated to meet representatives from diverse industrial groups on Thursday too, pitching hard for investments on the strength of its vision and roadmap for development over the next two decades.
