The Karnataka State Road Safety Authority Bill 2025, tabled by Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, witnessed a heated debate as the members questioned why the cess cap of ₹500 for every two-wheeler purchased and ₹1,000 for every four-wheeler purchased had been removed.
The Minister explaned said that it was aimed at introducing value based cess for vehicles, and that it was aimed at road safety, which triggered further heated debate between ruling and opposition members resulting in the House being adjourned for 10 minutes.
After resumption of proceedings, the bill was put for voting by Chairperson Basavaraj Horatti.
