The Supreme Court continued its hearing on Tuesday (January 6, 2025) on the petitions challenging the Election Commission of India’s (ECI’s) decision to undertake a special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across several States, including Bihar.
In a previous hearing on December 16, Advocate Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay for the ECI said that the SIR should be conducted during regular intervals to weed out illegal aliens. Chief Justice Kant had noted that the SIR was being held after two decades.
