Restaurant technology provider Toast is creating 120 new jobs at its Dublin headquarters resulting from a three year R&D investment into the country. The multi-year investment is supported by IDA Ireland.
The jobs will allow the US company to advance its work in AI innovation internally for teams, and externally for customers, by embedding AI agents across its platform and enhancing AI-powered productivity for its R&D teams.
According to Toast, its strategic focus on AI represents the next phase of its Irish expansion. The company’s Dublin team will be leading this “AI-forward” vision for the restaurant industry, it said.
The Boston-headquartered Toast offers restaurants SaaS and fintech products to help run their business across point of sale, payments, operations, digital ordering and delivery, marketing and loyalty, and team management.
The company provides its tech to Irish businesses including Bewley’s, Kicky’s, Oakberry and the Eclective Hospitality Group.
Toast first established an engineering presence in Dublin in 2017 and has since grown to include teams across all key business functions.
In 2022, the company opened a new Dublin office alongside 100 jobs. The company is recognised as a certified Great Place to Work in Ireland.
It currently lists 11 jobs in its Dublin offices spread across product, legal and technology roles.
“From our early feasibility work to this new investment, IDA Ireland has been instrumental in helping Toast scale and innovate in Ireland,” said Dave Fleming, the global head of engineering and Ireland site leader.
“This programme represents a step-change in the scope and ambition of our Irish operation, as our Dublin team will spearhead end-to-end platforms for our global customers, leveraging AI to shape the next generation of technology for the hospitality sector.”
To support the latest AI-focused transformation, Toast is investing in modular, scalable systems built for new regions, verticals, and customer segments. This is aimed at helping the company strengthen its cloud foundations.
