Actor-politician Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Thursday (December 11, 2025) formed two special committees to negotiate seat-sharing arrangements with its potential alliance partners and to draft the party election manifesto for the 2026 Assembly elections.

The decision was taken during a meeting of State and district-level office-bearers of the party at the party headquarters in Panaiyur. According to sources, the meeting passed a resolution conferring on Mr. Vijay the powers to decide on the alliance and the various responsibilities of the panel to negotiate seat-sharing arrangements with alliance partners.

The party would welcome parties that accept Mr. Vijay as the chief ministerial face, another resolution said. With nearly four months to go for the Assembly elections in the State, the party is yet to forge any alliance to take on the two Dravidian majors’-led alliances.

Separately, to mobilise broad-based support for its protest seeking a caste survey on December 17, PMK spokesperson K. Balu met TVK leaders, including the party’s general secretary N. Anand and the chief coordinator of the high-level administrative committee K. A. Sengottaiyan, at the party headquarters and extended an invitation.
