MUMBAI : New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson is keyed up for the latest installment of his showdown with the in-form superstar duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma during the three-match ODI series, which will kick off in Vadodara on Jan 21. “It’s obviously always really exciting, (to play) a very, very well-supported Indian team and those two guys obviously, superstars of our game and have been for a long time. So, you’re really excited to be back here and sort of looking forward to the challenge of the next sort of few weeks,” the tall pacer said on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old Jamieson, who has picked 24 wickets in 20 ODIs, is aware of the challenge of bowling to the modern-day greats on India’s batting-friendly wickets. “They’re tough to bowl to anywhere in the world, let alone at home in their own conditions. Not many guys have had a huge amount of success in this part of the world to them. That’s why they’ve got the numbers and the records they have. I think the whole (Indian line-up) all the way through is going to be a challenge and it’s something we’ll have to obviously plan for and get our heads around coming up because it’ll certainly be challenging,” he said.Like his captain, Jamieson asserted that while the Kiwis have one eye on the T20 World Cup, the tourists’ lens right now, is on the eight-match white-ball series. “I assume for every team that sort of lands in this country for the T20 World Cup, we’re no different. We’ve obviously got a nice sort of month here to try and prepare through the ODIs and the five-match T20 series and certainly we’ll be trying to put our best foot forward to do as well as we can. We’ll sort of be where our feet are and we’ll sort of worry about the first three ODIs and the T20s afterwards and then sort of move on to the challenge of the World Cup,” he said.
