Marking another significant milestone in the construction of the capital city, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana on Thursday launched the raft foundation works for the High Court of Andhra Pradesh in Amaravati.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Narayana said Amaravati construction works were progressing at a rapid pace. He announced that a total of seven major buildings in the capital city would be developed as iconic structures, reflecting global architectural standards.
The Minister said the High Court project was being executed based on a design prepared by internationally renowned architectural firm Norman Foster and Partners. “With this globally acclaimed design, we have begun the construction of the High Court today,” he said.
Providing details of the project, Mr. Narayana said the High Court complex would be built over a total area of 21 lakh square feet and would house 52 court halls. Court halls would be located on the 2nd, 4th and 6th floors, while the Chief Justice’s court would be situated on the 8th floor.
He said approximately 45,000 tonnes of steel would be used for the construction of the massive structure, underlining the scale and durability of the project. The government had set a target to complete the construction of the High Court by the end of 2027.
Mr. Narayana also remarked that the progress of Amaravati works had suffered delays due to irregularities committed during the previous government’s tenure. He asserted that the present government was determined to overcome those setbacks and push forward the capital’s development without further delay.
