Toss South Africa chose to bowl v India

An unchanged South African XI will chase again at Kingsmead, in Shafali Verma’s 100th T20I. Captain Laura Wolvaardt said she expects a slower surface than two days’ ago and wants to know exactly what her team will need to score after they made reasonably hard work of a chase of 158.

Wolvaardt will remain at the top of the line-up with Sune Luss as her opening partner. There is still no room for big-hitting Kayla Reyneke, who missed the first match with illness or local seamer Ayanda Hlubi, who remains on the bench.

Though India felt they came short batting, they made both changes in their attack, perhaps as a result of them collectively bowling 14 wides in match one. Anushka Sharma was handed her international debut after impressing for Gujarat Giants in the WPL while Kranti Goud was also brought into the team. Kashvee Gautam, who made her T20I debut on Friday, and Renuka Singh were benched.

This is the second match of the series being played in Durban, after which the series moves to the Highveld. Matches three and four take place at the Wanderers with the finale in Benoni.
